Carla works closely with her mother, Raquel Lasso, who is one of many Lasso's to produce stellar coffee from the region of Narino. This generational coffee farmer cultivates mouth-watering coffees in soil full of lava deposits from eruptions of the many surrounding volcanoes. Not only is the coffee of the highest quality, but Raquel's work has focused on empowering women within households towards financial autonomy through funded agricultural projects, both within and outside of coffee. She has seen
that when women control at least part of their family finances, domestic violence decreases, children go to school more regularly, and families eat better and more often. Not only is this coffee a one of a kind, but so is the incredible family behind it.
